Fantana’s mother to lose her seat for allegedly holding American citizenship
Viral reports making round on social media is indicating that Fatana’s mother Dorcas Affo-Toffey may lose her parliamentary seat taking cue from the fact that she still holds an American citizenship.
This is coming after Assin North MP James Gyakye Quayson also got an injunction placed on him a few weeks after winning the seat due to the fact that he holds a Canadian citizenship.
Ms Dorcos Affo Toffey won back the Jomoro Constituency for the NDC in the recent parliamentary elections after the party lost the seat to the NPP in 2016.
News of her losing her seat was broken by Ghanaian Blogger Cutie Juls on Instagram.
She wrote:
‘Hmm Ghana… La fantana’s mother will be facing the law o.
‘As of 7/12/2020 when she was voted as a Member of Parliament in a Ghanain constituency, she was still and remained a American citizen. You know that’s a crime as per the constitutuion of Ghana, right?’
